last night was my first mississippi state alumni meeting!
where does the time go? it seems like yesterday i was at freshman orientation.

it was so good to see dr. a, scott strickland and mr. cascio.
such great people representing our university.
i love mississippi state with all my heart.

the story... why i help THE HELP

the story.
in march i interviewed for a job in tuscaloosa, al, at first presbyterian church to be on the college ministry staff as the girl intern. the people were so wonderful and welcoming, and tuscaloosa is such a neat college town. i found out the week after spring break that i had received the job. after weeks of prayer over the job, i declined. i felt that the Lord was leading me to work in a work place to share the gospel.

after exams in may i came back to greenwood (for what i thought would be a few days) to see my grandfather in the hospital. 2 days turned into 2 weeks. i got a call asking if i might be interested in taking a job with the movie that was in town. after some thought and prayer said yes and went in to interview. my interview was on a thursday afternoon. i went to the hospital that morning to talk to granddaddy about it and went back up there after to let him know how it went. he got out of the hospital the next day. but on saturday became non-responsive.

russell (my boss) called me on monday to let me know that he wanted to offer me the job. i walked into the house after he called to tell my family. my mom said, "just go try to let granddadddy know." i walked in his room and sat on the corner of the bed and told him. he smiled and said yay very quietly. best feeling ever. he passed away that wednesday.

now i am "helping the help".

we are getting closer and closer to our shooting date so, that means things are picking up around here!
it's so much fun.
great website is, imdb.com (internet movie database) it tells you "who's who" in the movie world. i have to use it quite often at work to know who people are, maybe a fun tool for y'all (and by y'all i mean, all 2 of you that probably read this... thanks drew and mom).

yesterday we had a dreamworks "show-and-tell" where each of our departments showed dreamworks what we have done so far. it is really neat to literally watch this movie come together from the ground up.
i went to a lunch with dreamworks exec. and chris columbus (he is our producer and produced all the harry potter movies), that was so neat.

today i went to memphis to take steve molen (the creative director of dreamworks) back to the airport. it was really cool getting to talk to him on the way there about everything that is going on here and in LA.
i also got to eat lunch with ashley at huey's in memphis, yay... for sure the highlight of the day.

thankful for friends

this weekend ashley and rachel came to visit me. they are awesomely, legit. (if that's a real statement)
we went to carroll county market saturday, then went to church, and ate lunch with my dad.

then a couple of us from work went to "noises off" at the little theater in greenwood.

office fun...

our office has an entire floor of a building in greenwood, which includes:
the production office (where i work)
the art department
props
costumes
accounting
transportation
the directors and producers

this is our way of defending ourselves/getting other peoples attention.
yup nerf guns, these were distributed to the office this morning.

crazy days...

there are a few reasons i haven't blogged the last couple of days....

1. i work ALL of the time.
2. these days i can't talk about a lot that goes on up here.

this has definitely been an experience. i have learned so much about the "movie business" and i am learning a lot about humility. Jesus has been so good to me. GRACE is a beautiful thing.

i did accidentally hang up on Chris Columbus (our producer, who produced all the Harry Potter movies) while i was trying to transfer him to another line today. wooops.

as great as my job is, and how much i am LOVING being in greenwood (seriously, God has been so good to me.)
i miss mississippi state A LOT.
but, i love looking at bully everyday at work on my desk.

memorial day weekend

the three day weekend was wonderful.

went out on the boat on saturday,
hung around, cooked and played games on sunday (in my new house!), and took a field trip to indianola to the bb king museum on monday.

after a couple of weeks in the "real world" i have a new appreciation for holidays. thank you to the brave men and women serving our country to protect our freedom, we are so blessed.

also, a dip that i have starting making was a hit this weekend so i thought i would share it...

it's a buffalo chicken dip that i serve with tortilla chips:

1 cup of blue cheese dressing
1 cup of buffalo sauce
(those 2 may change according to how hot you want the dip to be, i usually just use my judgment)
crumbled blue cheese
and shredded chicken
