sweet as PIE

my sweet grandmother made all kinds of pies and brownies for everyone at the office.

HE has overcome the world...

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
-John 16:33

The reality is that “in this world you will have trouble”. No two ways about it – every disciple will prove this in their experience, one way or another; and every church will know it too. But in that knowing we are to also know this: Jesus has overcome the world. By his cross and resurrection, Jesus has conquered the world in its violent defiance and stubborn resistance to God.

Knowing that, we are to take heart from it and not give in to despair. Yes, we do fail the Lord, just like these disciples were so soon to do. But such failures are not absolute; they are real and grievous but the reality is that Jesus has conquered, has overcome the world.

And that counts for everything.

i think your dad....

as i have mentioned to some of you, one of our producers (who happens to be my boss) is renting a guest house that belongs to one of my dads neighbors. (out in the cawntry)

so, that makes travis his next door neighbor.
last week my dad decided to stalk him as he was leaving for work, and just happened to "run into him" as he was leaving the driveway to introduce himself. as i walked into work that morning i was immediately notified of my dad's greeting that was given to russell.

this morning, russell comes in to tell me that he thinks my dad shot something in his yard last night (uhhhh). just called dad,

"dad, what were you shooting in the backyard last night?"

"well, i was in the back yaaaa-d and was wotering my tomater plants and ther was an "armadilla" in the yard so, i shot him"

"oh great dad, thanks for being rodent homeland security for leflore county."

coff eeeeehhhhh

the guy that usually makes the coffee was late coming in today- so, guess who got to make it, yes, yours truly.

let me remind everyone, i don't drink coffee, needless to say i've never made it before.

so, avent's 4 step plan for making coffee:
1. fill the coffee pot up with water (seemed logical)
2. fill the coffee filter FULL of coffee (yup, to the top)
3. plug coffee pot in (the only thing that i did correctly)
4. ready, set, go (pressed start)

within 5 minutes there is coffee... oh everywhere. so i added a step 5, clean up mess.

so what do you do all day?

so the biggest question i've gotten lately... so what do you do all day?

and the answer is... A LOT.

i get to work about 8:30 a.m. everyday and i leave around 9 p.m. so we are a busy bunch.

my day consist of anything from emailing, answering the phone, making phone calls for our producers, ordering food samples from catering services, making welcome packets, putting together gift baskets for the cast, YOU NAME IT!

i have loved every minute of it.

just a great reminder... where ever we are in life

If you are not bold in your witness, if you are not courageous and risk-taking in your ventures of righteousness, if you are not open and straightforward in your speech, it may be that your hope is defective. Perhaps you are hoping in the wrong things to make your future happy. Perhaps you have never really thought seriously about the relationship between the strength of your hope and the boldness of your service to Christ. But Paul says there is a very close relationship: "Since we have such a hope, we are very bold."

the scoop....

ok so here is the scoop.

i am starting my first job in the morning with dreamworks production company.

dreamworks is about to start filming the movie "the help" that is based on the book written by kathryn stockett. all the shooting will take place in the delta.

i will be working in their office in greenwood full time until the end of october.

and my boss.... steven spielburg.

i am sure i will know a lot more after tomorrow, so i will continue to update!
